Art In the Dark

So the darkness shall be the light, and the stillness the dancing. ~ T.S. Eliot ~

In contrast to the black and white image of Cadillac Ranch that I did awhile back, I wanted to do something with color, but something unique. It reminds me of the moon for some reason. Cars on the moon… wouldn’t that be weird!  Continue reading

Neighbors: Part Two

It might be overkill, but I have been using the parrot shots to get in practice with more paint effects. I found some cool online tutorials, but they have no talking… just music. It’s fun to watch them but it can be hard to follow along and actually learn!

Anyway, I zoom in on some of the interesting pointers, and little odds and ends here and there… so I wanted to try one more version of the noisy neighbors.

Plus I liked “the parrot eating a walnut” shot. I think it came out pretty cool. Kind of like a watercolor, and I added lots of blur and smudge to it.

That’s all for now…

Noisy Neighbors

Well, I am killing two birds with one stone today…

no pun intended! 😉

This colorful creature has woken me up at the crack of dawn two days in a row now.

He (or she) sits up in the next door neighbors walnut tree and yells out what I can only imagine is some sort of song of joy. Perhaps trying to notify his friends about the delicious tasting treats he has found.

Anyway, he was also out there last night- before the sun went down- which is when I managed to get a few shots of him. He’s farther than my zoom really allows, so I jazzed him up with a painterly look, plus got in some more practice on Photoshop, and tutorials.

This is my last week before I start school full time, so I am taking advantage of every second. Come next Monday I will be spending most of my days commuting and sitting in classrooms… and I have to say that I am SO looking forward to it!! Not to mention the fact that I’ll be soaking in the cool air from the A/C there, since we have none at the house!

That’s about all for now. Have a beautiful blessed week!! Peace and Love everyone!!

Eye Candy

If only our eyes saw souls instead of bodies… how very different our ideals of beauty would be.

I’ve been browsing through books again, and got an idea for a cat.

I started with a very real image that I shot when I was in beautiful wine country (pre-sobriety). The plan was to do a color splash, to accent his amazing eyes.

It didn’t look very realistic at that point (obviously), so I gave the photograph a little paint effect to further enhance to the “unreal” appearance. It is borderline alien looking, but what the heck. It was just something to make me feel better since I miss colors when I start concentrating on black and whites.

My cousin wants me to do a project for her, with some images of her husband’s Le Mans. It will be my first project for someone else, so I am really looking forward to it- and hope to share the end result when it’s completed.

That’s about all for now. Have a purrrrfect day!!

The Discarded

Creativity is making marvelous out of the discarded.

Life has been crazy lately, but I wanted to dig in and do something creative today. Rumor has it that we are expecting a monsoon today, believe it or not. That’s not normal for southern California! It is icky muggy out there.

Anyway, this is Cadillac Ranch, in Amarillo Texas. I want to get serious about black and white, so I challenged myself by selecting an extremely colorful image. The temptation was there… but I went for it anyway. I still plan to do my series with reflections and such, I just haven’t had the right time or place with the camera yet.

I hope everyone is well! I will get on and do some reading/viewing today. I finished my final exam and it looks like I should get an “A” in my class, so I am relieved, happy and looking forward to the fall semester!

Peace and Love!!
