Untethered

“Walk outside on a clear night and just look up into the sky. You are sitting on a planet spinning around in the middle of absolutely nowhere.”

Michael A. Singer

Life: From A to Z

I’m back for my series Life: From A to Z and I’m nearing the end now… with the useful letter “U.” I’ve decided to combine the letters X, Y, and Z, so I have just three more posts to go and then I’ll be moving on to something totally new and different. Hip Hip Hooray! I love new things.

Anyway, the word untethered is what I’ve chosen as my u-word, and it is a beautiful word. I have to say that Michael Singer has cornered the market on quotes about “untethered.” Wow. Google it if you don’t believe me. His quote (above) reminded me of some of the thoughts that I talked about in Nature’s Blueprint—about how our perspectives change when we think about the miracle of life, and how small we (and our problems) really are compared to the size of the universe.

Initially, the word that came to my mind was unplugged. I think the two words are similar, but different. Unplugged makes me think of those mini-vacations we all take from technology and/or social media, and that’s not really what I wanted to focus on. It also reminds me of my faith, and how sometimes I wander away from God (or hide), and I start feeling as though I’m unplugged—I’m no longer connected to my power source.

In contrast, I think that untethered is more about surrender and letting go of all of the “worldly” things that make us crazy. Money, power, real estate, stocks… and how about that bitcoin?! Those are just obvious examples. When we put our faith in these things, we WILL be disappointed. These things are not constant, and they cannot be depended on. If money is what makes you happy, what happens to you when it’s gone?

I know, some of this is old news. But the fact of the matter is that it’s something we need to remind ourselves of over and over. And over. I know that I do, because there will always be something new and shiny… reaching out, tapping me on the shoulder, and begging for my attention. I must remind myself that all that glitters is NOT gold. I drift on. I remain untethered.

And I am open to my true power source.

I make myself rich, by making my wants few.

  1. Living untethered feels right and pure and grateful but oh so sparsely populated.

It takes time and patience to find souls on the same path and grace when engaging with the masses tethered to the shiny.

I love your commitment to honor the purity of life and your faith❣️🤗 it’s a journey❤️
