Celebrate Your Victories

Not every victory shows up on the scoreboard.

If you haven’t figured it out yet, I’m really rushing to get to X, Y and Z. Then… I will celebrate my victory—the completion of this damn (I mean wonderful) series that I call Life: From A to Z.

I have to admit that I feel a bit guilty. Writing my way through the alphabet hasn’t been easy, and some of my posts have been lacking anything… well… profound. Or interesting for that matter. My heart isn’t always in it. To be honest, my heart hasn’t been in much of anything lately. Somewhere, in the midst of all of the COVID chaos, life became monotonic, monotonous, and monochrome. It’s too bad I’m not on the letter M!

Anyway… I’ve decided that it’s time to liven things up. It’s time to start celebrating our victories, no matter how small.

  • Although I haven’t received the “paper” yet, I have “officially” graduated from the university with my bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Yay!
  • During COVID I gained a lot of weight, and (as of today) I have lost 22 pounds. Yay!
  • This summer I’m taking a class at the community college called “Walking for Fitness” so now I have no excuse not to walk. Plus I HAVE to because I’ll be graded. Yay! (I think that’s a victory)

That’s all I can think of for now, but these things certainly call for a celebration. And today is my sober anniversary—5 years and 3 months! That’s pretty major, and definitely worth celebrating. See… it’s so easy to fall into that trap of taking our victories for granted, and feeling as though life has become stale, boring, and two-dimensional.

It’s time to put on the party hats and recognize our victories, one and all… big and small!

The great victory, which appears so simple today, was the result of a series of small victories that went unnoticed.

About the Image

I wanted something wild, colorful, and crazy—the exact opposite of my mood earlier this evening. Even images have been difficult for me lately, and I’m feeling as though I’m entering a season of “anti-creativity.” That’s OK, because there’s a time for everything, but tonight I wanted to step into the psychedelics and come out with something to help me snap out of it and celebrate the v-word—VICTORIES.

Thank you for reading! I hope you celebrate your victories this week!
