This morning I drove into Pasadena. It wasn’t a major excursion, but it was in the opposite direction of where I normally travel and everything was unfamiliar. I wish I had taken my camera. It’s the perfect place for street photography, but it was just TOO hot! I wanted to get in—and get out. I went there to pick up the kit for my drawing class. I’m already enjoying the course. It’s not so much that I’ve learned anything yet (it’s only been two days), or that I even see the possibility of getting really good at it. It’s the fact that I’m putting aside my fear, putting the pencil to the pad, and making an effort.
The newest addition to my Garden Art series: I know, I know… It doesn’t look like it came from the garden. Believe it or not, this image was created with cherry tomatoes. Although they’re quite tasty, the photograph was a big bore. After getting a little crazy… our ripe tomatoes on the vine have been transformed… into a brightly colored dress, flowing and spinning as the salsa dancers shake and move across the floor. Can you see it? Now I just wish I had added some jalapenos.

Emily Dickinson This image is something I’ve been itching to do for days now. Every bird photograph I’ve taken has some sort of detail in it that I love. Eyes, beaks, legs, wings… even some claws. I see so many different angles to approach. So… tonight I worked on feathers. It’s an extreme zoom, so I hope it doesn’t get stretched and pixelated, but—other than that—it’s exactly what I was hoping for; lots and lots of feathers. Maybe this is a test. I’m trying to decide if this is something I want to perfect; to make a print. Would love to hear your feedback, as always. That is all for now. Goodnight!
